Why do CPUs never seem to break?

I had an 6700K last year which wouldn't boot. Turned out to be the CPU. Still dont know how.

Normally on the board or PSU side from current spikes and things of that nature. Hardware faults on the board side or firmware bugs. Generally speaking as per the consensus of the thread processor tolerances are very high and tend to outlive their usefulness.

Might be more common seeing a cpu failure in rendering pc's i suppose, in gaming pc's its more your gpu that's under load for extended periods rather than the cpu.
No different to any other application really, the weak point is always the motherboard, power supply, cooling fan etc, never seen a cpu fail. Even though the CPU is under extended load, it's other system parts that bear the brunt of the increased heat output & power draw. You'd be surprised at what they can take too, I remember running a small render farm at work in a sweltering summer for a week with the CPUs at 90deg - not ideal but nothing failed.
