Why do I need V-Sync on all games?

Hi Guys,

I recently bought a 6870, which I am very pleased with, but I have to enable V-Sync for all FPS games, otherwise I get horizontal tearing.

This isn't a massive problem but i am limiting my fps to 60 by enabling.

Just wondering why really, do other people have this problem?

Hmm, thanks guys. Perhaps I better have a play with all these settings.

I don't have an ATI card to hand, but in the Nvidia control panel, you can set the following options..

Triple buffering - ON
Force VSYNC - ON

This means you don't have to touch the in game settings and don't ask me how, but it doesn't have the input lag that some games introduce with their own setting

That all sounds good, anyone know if you can do that with AMD cards?

Yes, you can set game profiles in the CCC. Its under Gaming and 3D Application Settings.
