Why do male comedians like to dress up like women?

You do realise that half of the "comedians" that dress up as women are gay. Then there is the fact that a hell of a lot of them aren't even funny (Little Britain? I mean WTF, I'd rather pull my eyes out with rusty teaspoons than watch that tripe).

There is always the odd exception to the rule (Steve Coogan for one) that gets away with it.

With that razor sharp wit im surprised you havent got your own xmas standup dvd out .

Have to say though, Peter Kay does seem to be trying a bit too hard with his cross dressing efforts.

It's a tradition in British comedy that goes back hundreds of years. Watch a Shakespeare comedy performed properly (with no women, young men play all the female parts) and it changes the dynamics of the play completely. The british like farts, toilets and 1 sex dressed as the other, it's just the way we are.
