Its getting worse aswel. When you buy a laptop, you expect it to run at the spec and not being bogged down with about 10 bits of their software. I believe this topic was in the papers a few months ago??

they do it because if they don't then the general public will go "huh? how do i do the thingy" and they'll complain.

Well I for 1 think manufactures software is totally pointless, and the worst thing it it grinds the laptops to a halt,

It makes me mad,, you buy your pride and joy and it performs like a 2 legged dog, cos of all the bol**** they put on them:mad:

What I find even more offensive than the junk they install, is when they offer to install a clean factory image for a few extra quid. AArgghhh!

I also hate the recovery discs/images which reinstall the junk. Thank god Dell's still ship with a clean CD.

Probably get a back hander from the software publisher to stick it on there.

Precisely.

Manufacturers will say that they are doing it for the every day users, especially when it comes to security software, which is laudable, but the kickback helps too....

I think it may be better than a few years ago when machines were bundled with 3 or 4 different ISP's software, but I haven't bought a machine I haven't built myself for years.

Unfortunately it does put 'power users' in a position that they end up with a load of junk they don't want on a brand new system.

They have had to pick which group to annoy, and it's us...

The software is quite pointless unless your a totoal noob. I guess it keep folk in jobs though and if you system starts running slow a os-reinstall will make it owrk faster than when you bought it as yoiu won't have all the manufaturers junk to install.

Probably get a back hander from the software publisher to stick it on there.

possibly, but in the case of companies like Lenovo or Sony, it usually house-brand software which makes it all the more annoying.

I guess if you buy a new laptop, your paying extra for windows and all the rubbish that comes with it??

If I buy a lappy ever, I think I will buy a good 2nd hand 1 of the bay and then buy windows, then I can install the things I want on it.
