Hi guys, i brought the hard drive for my core system yesterday and have been downloading as many demos as i can get my hands on, however some of the ones that i really want to try don't seem to want to download.

Namely:
G.R.A.W (both demos)
Battlefield
Full Auto

It starts the download the process, then sits at 1% for a minute or so, before coming up with a message saying that this demo could not be downloaded!

Any ideas, all the other ones i've tried are working fine, table tennis rocks!

Got any software running that blocks IP's? such as peerguardian 2 or protowall? they usually block the xbox live download servers. Thats what was stopping me from downloading stuff.

If not could be your router if your running one

but why would it allow all the other demo's to download apart from these ones, i've already downloaded 8 or 9 from there today, just these three don't work.

thanks very much, i've just managed to get full auto going now, but the others are still a no go!

*edit* Battlefield has started now, so looks like it was probably Live!

out of curiousty, i read that a 20gb drive only has 13gb of space due to MS software that is put on it? That correct or can you use the full 20gb?

I had this exact same problem mate, found out it was my router playing silly B's!

I plugged my 360 directly into my Cable modem to test and all downloads worked a treat.

After this i put my 360 into the DMZ on my router and forwarded all the right ports to my 360's IP address.

Not had any more problems since.

That's correct, and no you can't use the full space.

Yeah you can only use 13 GB :( The rest is used by the machine.

Im hoping the prices of the hard drive will come down by the time a bigger one comes out. Will have to if the PS3 uses 60 gig.

Edit: bah beaten!

Well all the demo's have downloaded now, so all sorted.

in answer to the other guys question, yeah it has only got 14Gb space for you to use, i was not amused to say the least, paying £70 for something that on ly performs to 75% of its performance. So i wrote an e-mail to microsoft this morning asking for an explanation, this was the reply

Hello Adam,

Thank you for writing Xbox Customer Support!

Thank you for your inquiry! I understand that you have some concerns regarding your Xbox 360 Hard Drive.

The size of the Xbox 360 hard drive is 20 GB. Of this amount, approximately 4 GB is reserved for game title caching and other hard drive specific elements in games that support the hard drive. An additional 2 GB is reserved for use by the Xbox 360 backward compatibility software. This leaves you with almost 14 GB of free space (rounded down to 13 GB) to save game files, downloadable content and music, and other media.

For further assistance, please don't hesitate to write back or call Xbox Phone Support at 1-800-4MYXBOX (1-800-469-9269) at your earliest convenience. We are open everyday from 9am to 12mn Central Time.

So that explains that, i thought that if i wrote a stern enough e-mail i might have been offered something in goodwill, sadly they didn't take the bait, was worth a try anyway ;)
