Why do nice cars attract morons?

Well, what with all this talk about Ferrari's and the like here on the forums recently got me thinking why driving a nice car always attracts the kind of attention you don't want.
I stopped to fill up in a 911 once and got some teenager saying "Oi mate, your putting the fuel in the wrong place - it goes in the back" followed by the only question they ever ask " Er, how fast does it go"

But, if you drive a classic car like a Vauxhall Viva or similar you usually get older people saying they used to own one etc.

Please dont tar us with the same brush :p

im a teenager and im not worried about speed (well as such) its all about handling and road holding... and the looks...

when i see a nice car i dont go and tell the driver how nice it is (i trust them to know it ;) ). The most important reason I dont is that I dont want to give people who buy nice cars solely for attention what they want :)

Nice cars generally attract everyone, whether they're a moron or not.

Yup, especially those unwanted ones who will trash it, get a nice sports car etc... then forever keep getting it keyed, broken into etc... so make sure you have enough cash to keep splashing out for repairs.

Because you're a ponce if you drive a Porsche.

I never had anything but positive feedback whenever I stopped in the Skyline. Maybe because people realised I didn't give a rats ass about impressing business people.

Yeah, I get that bit but, why do the young people always tend to ask such stupid question or make such stupid statements.

because they dont own one and prolly arent so into their porsches that they dont have Fox like mondeo knowledge.

maybe you should learn how to interact with the working class without looking down your nose at them

One of the most narrow minded posts I've ever read!

Skyline drivers are bigger ponces IMO. They buy a Skyline to impress 15 year olds who play Gran Turismo and think the Skyline is the best car ever. Porsche drivers buy a Porsche because they are technically and aesthetically excellent. They are regarded as some of the best performance cars ever. The Skyline isn't.
