Actually, as I've said, this country WAS multicultural back then, due to the various mixes with Romans, Saxons, Vikings etc.

i'm not proud of some of the methods the british empre used but essentially we colonized these places (well, i say 'we', i played no part in it) but there is a vast difference between new world discoveries and what the op is referring to in his post,

Colonisation involves brutally murdering all the natives, whereas immigration simply involves living alongside them

I fully support any immigrant coming here and adding to our society and bringing there culture (and there food =D) with them but i have to agree with the OP that segregating themselves is wrong.
In some cases it creates a lot of fear for people outside of there group, for example most of my none muslim friends would label every muslim an extremist.
As for the roman/saxon/viking invasion i dont believe for one minute that multiculturalism existed through these times, even if theres information to say im wrong.

My opinion on immigration is that skilled immigration is excellent what this country needs, unskilled immigration is absolutely not what this country needs. My opinion is purely from a population standpoint, I couldnt care less who or what the immigrants are as it makes absolutely no odds whatsoever.

We should welcome doctors and other qualified professionals with open arms, and say 'no thanks' to taxi drivers, car washers, etc.

See, it *is* possible to be anti immigration without coming across as hating people from a certain demographic.

Those who were invaded had no choice in multiculturalism it was a forced transition (much like what Labour has just done TBH), the romans simply eradicated the pagans belief system by transposing there own on top often taken pagan holidays and using them as their own.
