Security? So people cant get matching plates made up for a simmalar colour/model car and run people over?

Yeah, pretty much that, cloning.

Of course, some one will post some witty remark about supermarket carparks, and they are right, and the chances of someone cloning your plate from a website like this is small, but it takes 30 secs, and reduces the risk. Worth it imo.

yup and its easier looking online than looking round car parks too to be fair

just type the model of car in google images and there you go

I do it so nobody knows who I am so they cant beat me up for saying that their car is rubbish over the internet.

All other reasons are paranoia and not credible.

The whole supermarket carpark thing is a bit stupid really. Why would somebody go to the effort of going to a supermarket carpark when they can quite easily find the reg from the internet (google image search or even autotrader) without even leaving their house. There is no guarantee that you will find the same car in your local carpark... unless its a silver Mondeo or something :D

Nah didnt bother

Also I might post something on here saying 'I was going 110mph on the M6 toll the other day' and then the next week 'Oh look at my shiny clean Golf'.

Or I might say 'oh my Golf broke again, it is such a terrible car' and the next week put it on Autotrader!

I love it when people complain about viewing a numberplate online. Do they go around with their eyes shut when on the road so they don't see a plate?

You don't post your address on the net so why would you post your numberplate.

I do it so that some criminal can't get my plate off the net, find another post with a full spec list of my car (say it had some nice sought after engine upgrades or a kick-ass ICE install) and then come and stand outside my house holding a shopping list of what's in my car.

Numberplate != address

next question.
How?

I have 2 plates where I want to know where the owners of the car lives, and the only way iv been able to find one of them is through friends in the Police.
