Why do people think it's ok to do this?

Why do people think it's acceptable to take ownership of a sun lounger around the pool of a hotel?
They seem to have this delusion that a towel is going to make it theirs?

Have seen people go down as early as 6am to place towels on sun loungers, they use large clips to secure them!

The hotel has a written policy where it states that they don't permit this behaviour, and that their security guard will remove any towels... but I have seen him actually place towels out for people!!! He supposedly does it for you for €5 per day.

It's bloody madness !

We just go to the beach or go for long walks... these monkeys spend all day getting skin cancer on their backs...

Oh well...

Do you do this? If so what goes through yoour head to make you think it's acceptable?

Don't do it nor do I understand people who spend thousands on a great holiday to a place that has some of the best beaches in the world then never leave the hotel pool.

Sheep effect, one person does it so the rest follow

To be fair if you book a holiday like that you should know what to expect, but it is ridiculous.

Personally I don't see the point in traveling hundreds/thousands of miles just to sit around a pool with a load of other Brits and have a full English every morning.

Don't play their game, just buy your own sun lounger :D

Blame ze Germans for starting and continuing with this practice. They don't care about whether you get to lie by the pool and 6am is late for some of them.

Be a hero, go down at 7am and chuck all the towels into the pool!

OP where are you?

Yea it can be annoying but no point in letting it frustrate you in the mornings when you're on holiday. Knowing my luck, if I moved the towels they would end up belong to people with limited mobility and id end up looking like a cruel mother trucker.

Just let them enjoy the limited square footage where they spend the whole week before travel back home and never really seeing anything outside of the hotel other than the road from and back to the airport.

Hope you're having a good holiday anyway dude!!

Why on earth would you go on holiday and just spend it by the pool in your hotel? I think that's a better question ;)

Its all a cunning German plan. They started this, now the Brits follow. End result is they can go out and enjoy the local area without having to put up with a bunch of drunk chavs ruining it.

I do it...

"Can't beat em, so join em."

I wouldn't do it if everyone played by the rules, but clearly the only losers are those who don't go down early to "reserve".

Just move the towel, you can even screw with their heads and put it at the opposite end of the pool.

Even better run to the next hotel along and put it on their sun loungers, that'll teach em! :D

The English are the main culprits, always have been, keen to stake a claim. Often the problem with these places is there are never enough sunbeds to go around.

The Brits are far worse than the Germans for this now. The Germans at least lay the towel down and stay in bed. The Brits get up at 6:30 and lay on the bed until 8. Thus ruining the point of a lay in and relaxing on holiday.

Although I went somewhere this year with a high number of Germans and they were ****ing rude beyond belief. I saw them walk on a go-kart track and man handle a child out of a go-kart on an electric go-cart track because it was the fastest kart. I'm just glad it wasn't my son or I think I would have ended up with a kicking.

Many years ago on a holiday to Tenerife there were quite a few Germans who did this.

We just watched them from our balcony, sauntered down at our leisure, then threw their towels into the pool.
