Why do people want CEX vouchers so badly?

Being so naive and inundate to understand why people want these? Seen a few of these kicking about in the Wanted sub forum and are items from CEX (2nd hand) really valuable to some?

I always tend to think most stuff from CEX is from the back of the lorry or stolen goods but if thats not the case where people want to hand such items? Also their 2nd hand prices are not the best on the market and I suppose there is that element of 'returning goods' if its not fit for purpose. What else am I missing?

I assume it's for stuff that's hard to find new and they've seen it in CEX online. Bit of a discount on top is a sweetener for those sitting on higher value vouchers and want to cash in.

Even on eBay people bid up to almost new prices for things though, so CEX pricing makes sense (for them at least). People are paying £50-60 for used basic Kindles, madness. I got the current model from Cash Converters for £30 delivered. I was looking at Nintendo Switches and that's the same. I'd rather pay 20-40 more for a warranty.

I personally love going to the CEX shop.

But I certainly wouldn't be buying their "acceptable" offerings!

Who knows what better did with that "rolling pin".

got a 1600AF from CEX a while back, checked the price compared their to other places and found it was good, even better getting a CEX voucher at 83% of face value to make it even better.

Also sold some CEX vouchers in the past as well when the voucher price when resold at a discount was more than the cash price so win/win for all there.

More importantly how do you pronounce CEX? Is it:

*Sex
*See-E-Ex
*Kecks
*Something else

?
Officially it’s sex - they have it on their phone line voice overs when you call them. Also:

Its to do with the pricing/ease of purchasing and saving abit of money buying vouchers and people seem happy to overpay second hand and bid close to new prices in some cases. (esp on ebay)

With the ~20% discount on vouchers, their pricing isn't actually too bad, and most stuff comes with a 2 year warranty, taking away most of the risk of buying 2nd hand. Obviously depends on the item, but there are some bargains to be had.

I have to admit I've taken to using CEX recently for hardware - Brand new iPad Pro 2TB 12.9 for £1000, Brand new Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra (512GB) for £900 all with a 2 year warranty.
Will probably pick up a replacement Surface Pro 8 from there once this 7 finally gives up the ghost.

I assume it's for stuff that's hard to find new and they've seen it in CEX online.
doubt it because on this forum in the members market it seems the same people are constantly after as many CEX or john lewis vouchers as they can get

they must be making money out of it somehow
