Why do some apps not retain the login details?

One of my apps yesterday, Trillian, failed to remember the password I use. For example before when I signed out the username and password remained filled in.

But now when I sign out the username is there but the password gets blanked, so I have to retype it in.

I recently had an OS update and it moved a few things around. So I'm wondering is there a setting on the phone that tells apps to retain the password?

I'm on a Samsung S21

Is there any setting or app that I can use that tells apps to keep the login details stored?

Discord was a pain in the butt for keep having to manually login.

So you're signing out of these apps, but you're expecting them to remember your details? It should be normal for it to forget everything when signing out. Alternatively, don't sign out and just close the app.

But if you really want to keep signing out, use a password manager app where it can autofill for you, eg Bitwarden.

I decided to just keep signed in.

User wants to sign out of apps but expects their credentials to remain when they next log back in.
The reason for my question is the app retained my password before. So I was just wondering how come its suddenly stopped retaining it after an OS update. Did the update change a setting etc.

Usually it's on the app side, not OS. And it's actually a major security flaw if it kept credentials when logging out.
