Why do the BBC keep switching channels for coverage?

Why do the BBC keep switching coverage between BBC1 and BBC2? Is it some stupid broadcast rules to do with the amount of time something can be shown on a certain channel or something?

It's not for the news though, it just changed from BBC2 to BBC1 for Escape to the Country...

How could this possibly be an annoyance?

I didn't say it was annoying? Was just wondering why they did it.

Just watch the Olympic channels? They're not that much different.

I can't believe anyone is doing anything other than red button!

I'm using a USB aerial at work so no red button and the internet is terrible so can't stream
