Why do you have a Mac and a PC?

Just out of interest as I have been looking at a new iMac when they get a refresh.

I have noticed that a few people have both. Are there any advantages to this seeing as nearly everything can be done on either platform?

I'm just considering getting an iMac for a family PC. The house is awash with iPad's/phones/pods. It get's messy when the rest try to do things with their aging laptops like sync their devices, download stuff onto PC and edit things. They always end up using my PC system and as anyone on here knows, that can be quite inconvenient.

So, I think a nice iMac with a universal dock should make it easy for all as I know it's very easy to setup multiple libraries with a Mac.

As I said though, I wont buy until there's a refresh and will just pray for a retina refresh.
