... Redo a CBT every 2 years..
(Compulsory Basic Training)

... to ride a 125cc Bike on L Plates. Seems stupid to me? Once you've been trained you don't need to be trained again surely?!

That's like Learning to Drive but re-siting your test in two years time :O

What's You're view?

probably so the council can confirm that out of the 200,000 little dicks that took it only 145 actually lived to retake it two years later.

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

and yes I do appreciate I rode an aprilla rs125 for a few months, making me one of said dicks :)

My view is that you are supposed to learn to ride and take your test within 2 years. Thats the point. It's nothing like learning to drive and then having to resit your test because youve never bothered to take a test.

Surely thats not the case, Some commuters who only have a 125cc may just retake every 2 years :P

Hmm...

But what do you benefit from doing the CBT again after 2 years which you didnt benefit from the First CBT which was completed?

A refresh on the rules and riding style to be used.

You have never actually taken a test to prove you are up to a standard beyond the most basic needed.

You retake it because it's assumed if you haven't passed the test you either haven't ridden much since or are not at the standard to pass. So just take the test and pass...

If they want to ride around on only a 125 with L plates for years of their life then thats their choice, I wanted to pass and get a bigger bike asap!

I Can see where they are coming from...

But on a Full Car licence 1 CBT validates your Licence to drive a 50cc bike forever (More or less) but if you ride a 100 or 125cc then you have to retake...

As you said it is training, not a test, a driving test is a test, and your motorbike test is a test.

either get retrained or take the test, if you've got the money/experience - do it!

same reason you have to re take your theory test if you do not pass your main driving license test within 2 years.

Have you ridden a 50cc? you can go faster downhill on a push bike :p

The CBT is scarily Basic!. I had a few near misses when I first got let out on my 125 at 17. I almost can't believe I was allowed out on the road :o . Even after a year and a half riding on my own (and a couple of times falling off!) I learned a LOT by learning to pass both my car and full bike tests. Only then did I actually realise how bad I was!

A CBT isnt a driving test. Its just making sure you dont fall off. You are still a learner until you do your actual test. If the lolCBT only had to be done once then thered be no point in doing a test aswell. It more like permission to practice with a 'not crap' stamp at the end. Refresher if you havnt passed within a very lenient time space, sort of like the theory test for a car, it will run out and have to be retaken if you dont pass fully.

The rules are bettter than they use to be, before you had to take the CBT ride for 2 years and then you couldnt do it again for 3 years.. IE a year gap before taking your CBT again, this is a progession for those that just want to ride 125's for ever just pay 90 quid every two years to stay on the road. no one year gap...
I imagine the thinking is if you cant pass the test with two years of practice you shouldnt be on the road. and the test was cheaper than doing the CBT again.
