why do you need speedstep off?

when o/cing why cant you have the benefits of speedstep too?

the 'slow clock' of speed step will be more than the default speedstep speed, but will auto revert to the slow clock voltage, so in idle mode it maybe 1.6ghz at 1v but overclocked it could be 2ghz at 1v which maybe enough to crash the system, hence why its easier to turn off and run at a known high speed thats stable with enough volts
