Why does everyone go for tower cases?

Now I may be wrong but I'm sure that one of the basic principles of thermal dynamics is that hot air rises!

So I cannot see why all the serious overclockers would opt for a tower case over a desktop case... I bought a desktop case originally for my rig as I was planning on storing it out of site and it would have suited my needs perfectly. I switched to a tower case though (due to a furniture change) and found my temps sky rocket as the hot air from my two GFX cards was rising up directly through my Zalman 9500 Aero Flower.

Surely the best config would be to have a desktop style case with some fans on top sucking the hot air out?

In such a limited enclosed space it will probably make little difference.

Made a HUGE difference to me when I switched, especially running SLi. Plus, I had massive temp issues with my uppermost GFX card as the fan was just sucking hot air directly from the back of the lower card - with the desktop case I similar temps on both.!!!

O I C... I did blatantly copy gord to be honest but it's supposed to be more of a parody of it rather than just ripping it off.

Oh well - can't be arsed to change it though!
