Why does my DVD drive do that?

Hey all

I've got a Sony DVD 16x drive... And every now and then, including boot up... it just starts going into a fit and spinning really fast, really loud. So annoying, cus it usually wakes people up

Is this normal?

Can i ask if you have any starforce protected games on your system , if you not sure check HERE . The reason i ask is that starforce can mess up DVD drives and ive also noticed another thread by you saying your PC restarts at random again this is a "know" starforce thing ......Just an idea

Hmm, i did have some of the games on there on my system quite a while ago, but not for a good 6 months. Nothing from that list is on there at the moment though. Thanks for the help anyways
