Hey all

quick question

I have noticed lately that my Ram usage keeps going up when my PC is in use or idle....

I turned it on and windows uses like 20% of 6GB

I come back an hour later and its at 97%... and my pc is VERY SLOW and sluggish...

I have to reboot to fix it.

I had a look in task manager and emory managment and nothing is takeing up more then 200mb...
and no were neer enough to use it all.

I cannot reinstall windows.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a memory leak. These are usually caused by buggy or defective programs.

What OS are you using?

The most common recent cause of memory leaks I've seen here was poorly coded Windows Sidebar gadgets, are you using the sidebar?

Alex:
Im only useing Windows 7 Ultimate.
I have Everest open most of the time and its that that has the memory % number for me to view.

Temi: nothing shows up useing 5+gb in the task manager... Firefox is the highest useing atm at 300Mb

Sandeep:
i installed this OS 2 weeks ago, all it has in games and office...

Thanks for the clarification.

Did you press the 'Show Processes From All Users' button in task manager before you looked for the process eating up the memory?

You might want to try Process Explorer, it has more detailed information than task manager, and may help find the root of the problem a little easier.
