Why does my router not like google.co.uk

hi guys i have recently purchased a new ADSL router for myself and am having problems, first it didn't want to detect my adsl service, then after ages on the phone to tech support i now have internet access back but can't use google.co.uk with a box appearing asking for a username and password to connect to google.co.uk, has anybody got any idea of what i'm doing wrong? router is a Netgear DGN2000 and isp is O2 home Broadband

Check your host file for a google entry pointing to your router IP.
