Why does taking the side of case make gfx cards hotter?

Hello,
I have the systen in sig in a wavemaster case. I was looking at ways to cool the gfx cards so I took the side of and ran a test.
Side on 71 degrees at load
Side off 81 degrees at load

I was going to mod the case and have a fan blowing out on the side by the gfx cards but now i'm not sure it will be a good idea. Any other way I can improve cooling?

Thanks

cause with the side off theres no air flow, (iirc) you need more extracting fans than intake fans

someone correct me if im wrong, but i think thats right

You lose the wind tunnel effect when the panels are off. The airflow is much weaker as it is escaping out of the side from the front intake.
If you had a fan in the sid eblowing onto the graphics card it would be nice and cool

I stuck a 120mm fan on the side blowing on the cards and temps are the same. :( Should I make holes in the side behind the fan or will that muck up the airflow?

Thanks

How do you mean you stuck one on the side?? If its stuck to the side of the case and there's no hole in the case for the fan to suck in the air then it wont be doing anything. Can you post a pic or explain abit more on what you've done.
Also having a side intake can have good effects in some cases and not so good in others, it depends on the layout and airflow in the case. Worth a try though and could drop those temps.

hahahahahahahahaha

no offence or anythin but i cant help find that funny. you stuck a fan on the case without having a hole in the case, where do you think the air is going?

make a big hole in the case, or ill be in danger of calling you a simpleton.

I'm having one of those brain dead days. I aint usally that thick:)

Now got holes for the fan to suck air into the case. Temps are the same so I give up.

at idle
gpu1 51
gpu2 58 :o

at load
gpu1 72
gpu2 85 :o

What can cause the big difference?
