Why does this happen?

My PC has one of those Creative X-Fi soundcards and I have 7.1 Gigaworks speakers. Sometimes the PC reverts to 2.1 speakers so I have to change it back to 7.1.

Any ideas why this happens, Is it just one of those things.

Install the latest drivers maybe?
Just a guess though

I may look at the drivers as I have not bothered looking to upgrade them since I bought the card a few months back. Thanks.
