Okay I have broadband at home. Works okay, some problems with it but that is on another thread.

I have a works laptop that every day I dial in via my home telephone number. The laptop uses dial up rather than broadband so therefore I cannot use my home telephone at the same time.

Now the problem is, when I dial my work laptop in, after it has finished, disconnected and unplugged etc. Not connected to the telephone line in any shape or form.

I cannot get my Broadband back without turning the router on/off and rinse and repeat 5-8 times.............

Any idea? driving me nuts......

any kind of phone activity without a fully working filter (or even a filter) often knocks out broadband. I take it all your phone sockets that are in use have a DSL filter ?

Easy way to test is monitor internet connection on your other PC when using dial up on Laptop

I have always lost conection to Broadband when using works laptop to dial-in.

It is not a new thing. Just decided to post this and see if any help possible.

Could be the filter then. As not got a filter on the master socket I used, just on the one upstairs that was connected to the router via a Telephone extension cable

you do know your t'internet will be much faster if connected via the master socket don't you? faulty filter, extension cable badly wired, bell wire still connected try all these

Thats not always the case so not exactly true what you are saying. It all depends on how good your internal phone cabling is.

I get 6mb whether connected to an upstairs extension or whether direct to the master socket.

Although it is always worth trying.

(I believe Magix_x_uk has already found his will improve anyway)

well strictly true, but it improves in like 95%+ times....always something to try though! I've always seen an improvement...
