Why does Whatsapp keep opening on the edit profile page?

Sometimes when I open Whatsapp, or get a new Whatsapp message, when I tap the notification of the new message or otherwise open Whatsapp, it'll take me to the 'edit profile' page rather than to where I last left the app or the new message.

Does anyone know why it does this and how to stop it? I have already setup my profile.

If you go into the app settings, clearing the cache may help or worse case scenario try uninstalling and reinstalling it?
