Why don't OCUK host a lan party?

Have you ever been to a Lan?

Being able to actually chat to people, make new freinds, enjoy sessions of Poker/Console/Pub Quiz, give away sponsorship and prizes, and again, actually chat to people.

If you'd rather sit behind a headset and broadband connection, that's fine.. but different people enjoy different things :)

I try to make my irl friends non-gamers.

Hey guys, not wanting to hijack this, but like vertigo said, we're within <30mins of the OCUK depot with the epic.LANs, would have been even closer until their move to Newcastle! Plenty of space to fit you all in if you want to use it as a chance to meet up as a community.

We're not in it for money, we just enjoy running them and we aren't a "pro gamer" event if people just want to enjoy a few games with a couple of drinks and to meet up with other people in the online community. And of course, we're already putting all of the work in anyway (have the venue, kit, infrastructure and 7 years of experience doing it!)

I won't post the link myself because I know advertising is frowned upon and I am directly involved with it. But I'm sure you can find out more details if you so wish.

Mods - feel free to delete if you feel this is an inappropriate contribution. I have tried to make official contact though about these in the past.

Didn't realise you were on here!

And how did you associate that with me! Thought i'd done a good job of hiding myself!

Well you use the same moniker as you do on the epic.lan forums, plus I was following your trip to Dreamland - I keep meaning to come down/join in but I always wonder about being a bit naff.

Oh gee thanks!

Really should finish our article about the last few days of Dreamhack, they kind of went a bit blurry after a red wine incident.

Here's the link for epic.THREE. Don't believe this is against the rules in any way as I have no vested interest in these events and have posted info about them before.

+1 Vote towards the idea of a OcUK LAN Event.

And +1 to a OcUK Informal meet.... I'd be willing to give some technical help as I do work as a 2nd Line Network Engineer, I have a spare few switches as well...

Didn't they do a sort of LAN event at the Ocuk office?

I am sure there was a thread about it on here too but I can't find it, it was for one particular event/game but I couldn't make it at the time. Must be over six months ago though. :(
