Why don't Overclockers list CPU steppings?

I know at least one US site that gives you a drop down list of steppings available to buy. If Overclockers did this too they would offer something unique to the UK marketplace. I imagine people would even be happy to pay an extra premium for certain specific steppings.

Reminds me of the good old days when Overclockers would sell you a Celeron with a pre-tested guaranteed overclock...

They don't have time anymore.

In other words if a member of staff was doing this they would not be doing something else more imoprtant e.g. Customer Service.

I think they said they would have to charge a lot more to make it worthwhile, as thats a lot of cpu's they would have to check.

A nice idea, innit? That might also make stock-room setup harder..as they`d have to be arranged a certain way instead of just having a shelf.

If by "cabbage" ya mean CABGE..send em this way! No coldbug! :-p

The "cabbages" could be sold at a discounted price and would be bought by people who are happy running at stock or a small overclock (or know no better). The low profit on these is offset by the high profit on the "golden samples".

Clockers are happy because they get the stepping they want, normals are happy because they get a cheap chip.

I imagine the chips come in batches so it wouldn't take too much work to check them and stick the details in the product database.

LOL..shush! :D I like doing things the hard way! All the Conroe guys are just taking the easy way out! :p :p
