Not relevant to what I was saying as Blu Ray films aren't rendered in real time 3D.I choose blu ray on my 1080p tv.![]()

The digital effects in films are rendered in 3d on computers vastly more powerfull than any high end gaming rig. They are rendered in advance and then recorded for playback, when you watch them you are still getting the amazing 3d effects and quality but you dont have to do the rendering.
The 3d rendering in movies such as transformers is vastly higher quality than for instance crysis on max settings.
This thread doesn't really make much sense.
You sound like you've taken what I said as support for CGI movies being rendered in real-time.I chose the realistic option.
Films won't be rendered on pc systems, the sheer horsepower required to render a film is massive, to do it in real time on consumer hardware just isn't be possible.
It takes an hour to render one frame in a modern CGI studio. Imagine how long it would take on a Geforce 9800.
If you want one second of film in a day, then fine!![]()
Funny you mentioned Transformers, as a lot of the effects in it were rendered in realtime using a GPU, a 2900XT.
CGI Workstations reallistically aren't any more powerful than a high end gaming PC especially when you take in to account the fact that Transformers was rendered using a 2900XT and that HD4800s can render in realtime with AA and HDR at 60FPS, they'll be used very widely to cut down the time it takes to render 3D effects in movies.
Eh?You sound like you've taken what I said as support for CGI movies being rendered in real-time.![]()
Yes, there was an interesting quote somewhere online about the new series of Radeon 48xx series being able to ray-trace Transformers in realtime... thanks to their rather cool back-ends. As I understood it, this trick wasn't possible with Nvidia hardware.
