why dose my PC black screen when i open an app on desktop?

hey guys,

i received my replacement GTX 970 G1 card this morning as it had bad coil whine but also got black screens when opening apps on desktop.

now ive fitted my new 970 and updated to the latest nvidia drivers and restarted the PC but its still happening :/

ive tried removing my CPU overclock but that makes no difference at all, i dont know what else to check.

it black screens for about 2 seconds then goes away, still hear sound etc

any ideas guys?
its fine in games, just annoying that it dose this when at desktop :(

think its my PSU guys,

its a antec true power 750w that i have had for about 4 years now, im not really surprised that its giving up as its had 6 GPUS (two being power hungry dual GPU cards) its being used in two builds now, but i think its time to give it up and get a new one.

going to go for the EVGA G2 850w :)
