Some dumbass web guys think that blocking firefox is the way forward :D

Just to spite them, I just registered whyinternetexplorerisblocked.com and have it pointing at getfirefox.com :D

How they think that blocking a good % of their users because they use pop up blockers is going to help their website, I don't know...

/sigh

Thats about as stupid as putting your fingers in a wall socket and shouting "You can turn the power on now"

I can understand why they would do it if they rely on ad revenue to turn a profit.
I don't agree with it though and wouldn't bother clicking my IE tab to view a page that blocked FF. I'd just go somewhere else.

Right, and Adblock Pro in IE obviously doesn't do the exact same thing

What a retard. Just a (bad) excuse to rebel against FireFox.

no one minds good quality adversitisng on sites that is professionally built into the site as part of the design, thats all good... but popups are annoying as hell which ever way you look at it...

firfox beats ie in every shape and form (oh, except i'd like firefox to have that cleartype setting, makes web pages look sexy as hell :p)

what a stupid site.

I think their problem is that Firefox advocates adblock as a recommended download on their addons page.

why choose to target firefox? its not like they are the only ones who advocate ad-blocking and popups, the concept is hardly new. i think the creator of that site isnt really thinking it through very well, and is very very bitter towards firefox

My guess would be they're targetting them because most people who are using adblock are using it on FF. Also, I don't there is a recommended download section on the IE, Opera or Netscape websites where you can download adblock.

They do sound rather bitter though.

Still isn't a reason to target FireFox. It's a popular, stable and reliable addon to their browser. They've got every reason to put it on the recommended downloads section of their website.

It's AdBlock he should be moaning about, not FireFox. No justification in it.

It's this div that runs the website:
http://dannycarlton.com/

All his sites are being gibbed from the face of the web it would seem. Even the mirror services aren't able to serve it. (coral cache, diggmirror etc)

meh just read his blog, he sounds like a bitter and twisted loser.
Maybe I should start a blog :)

He also has about as much talent as a log. I love developers who put up portfolios with crappy websites. It's like announcing to the world, 'Look at my me and what I can do! I suck".

/me quietly adds fftest.php to his adblock list.

I love to know why advertisers & people who sell advertising space think they own a space in my brain.... However i'm unusual as I think nearly all marketing is unethical.

Well, I am sure that there are sociologists out there who could write entire papers about "social engineering" through advertisements etc.

Probably why personal audio players are so popular, people can shut out the crap of every day life. One of the reasons I don't miss tv at all.

I don't like :

1) Advertising a product above a competitors for anything other than technical benefits
2) Advertising a company or institution to gain "mind share", and viral memes are especially terrible
3) Company sponsorship of anything where they feel the need to put their "links" or rules onto it.

I think I just became the biggest hypocrite, posting on a website owned by overclockers.co.uk :D

Ah well, at least they have a decent moderating team... and a lax advertising scheme.

Someone hacked it and put up a pointer to firefox...

Not sure if I condone that action, but still, I don't condone what was there before either...

Actually, they didn't - check the domain.
