Why has my performance dropped?

Hi,

I used to get around 60fps-70fps on Bad Company 2 on pretty high settings, and suddenly that performance is now about 30-40fps. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

- I recently changed PSU after my old one died, however it worked performance did not dip until a few days after

-AMD Phenom 955 X4 (Overclocked to 3.5Ghz)
-HD 5850 (Overclocked)
-4GB Kingston HyperX ram

I've tried down clocking everything, had no effect.

Download GPU-Z and check the Bus Interface to see if it's running @ x16.

Not really.

Check that the power cables are fully secured to the graphics card.

You could try re-installing the drivers.

Check the GPU isn't getting too hot. Have a look and see if there's any accumulated dust which needs cleaning out.

Download HWmonitor and see if your 12v rail drops voltage when your playing battlefield. If it its you psu is probably not enough.

Any way to check if your 5850 is throttling due to lack of power? Mine used to do that, until I plugged the second PCIE connector fully
