Why hasn't Outlook backed up all of my emails?

In preparation for the arrival of my new PC, I backup up to a .pst file what I thought was all of my emails from Outlook.

Just setup my new system, reinstalled Outlook and imported the .pst file only to now find that it has only backed up the first 2000 or so of my emails up until the end of May.

It is vital that I retrieve some of the emails from the last month or so at the very least as they hold very important business information, so is there any way of getting these back off the old installation of Outlook? (I still have the old unformatted drive where Outlook and all emails were stored).

Any help with this matter would be very much welcomed.

Just copy the old pst file over the one on the new setup. I'm assuming you used the export to pst option last time?
