Why is 19/13 tubing no longer popular?

I used it in a tj07 years ago (gtx 280 days) and you could hardly see the hardware for the tubing (chipset blocks etc). Tight bends were a total pita and anti kink was 100% needed.

I think aesthetically the smaller stuff looks better tbh, can be a lot neater, smaller fittings etc.

The move towards smaller cases is my guess. Cosmetically you need a good size case (Tower, Super Tower or larger) for 13/19 to work, aesthetically and functionally. I use them for my Super Tower because anything smaller looks puny. For a smaller case I would definitely look at something thinner though, 10/16 or smaller.

There's also no difference in cooling performance between 10/16 and 13/19. Even with 8/10 it's a few degrees at best.

Indeed I mean tbh I have gone 14/11mm with my latest build as it visually scales well with the ITX/MATX sized builds. I think if going for an EATX build a larger 19/13mm would still be preferable for myself.

I was wondering this just yesterday when I went looking for some new fittings to add to my loop and realised it's nearly impossible to get hold of tubing/fittings in that size any more. I don't like the idea of having to replace everything when this stuff eventually stops being sold entirely!

Why did certain tube sizes die out? Ie 19/13mm seems to be very rare. Yet 16/10mm very popular.
EK specialise in 16/10 and EK became the dominant producer in Europe thus it became the most common size, as a result of being the most common size many retailers focussed on it (as they weren't going to buy every fitting going in the hope they would sell) which made it even more common, this resulted in more and more manufacturers gravitating towards the "standard" size.

It's the same as how American and British manufacturers ended up switching to G1/4 fittings, after that became the defacto standard due to European manufacturers spamming it.
