Why is a macbook seen as best for programming?

Crazy! I've not tried to use it but I've seen someone use it, and it just seems to difficult to use :p

It's not that hard, it full of composed shortcuts.

Like 5w, skips the cursor 5 words.

3j7w skips 3 lines, then 7 words.

You can built up very complicated shortcuts, and completely transform a documents in a few keystrokes.

Like copy 6 lines, and repeat paste every 5 lines.

I use nano, does that warrant the arrest and punishment of me?

Yes :p. In fact I'm certain nano is something I tried using once at uni and I seemed to be able to get around but not do anything advanced with it. I think I just have a general phobia of terminal apps and prefer a GUI.

That's because nano is not that advanced...

vim's really good, i generally do all my stuff in vim, especially since actually getting the hang of LaTeX everythings a lot easier

I used to use vi on AIX years ago and did like it (I came from a mainframe background so quite used to keyboard control rather than mouse). The beauty of vi (of which vim is a variant) is that it is usually installed on just about every Unix like system out there. And you can still use it even if you have to ssh into a headless system.

I'm a little out of practice now though :(

You're missing the point that there is no physical right-click, it's a nuisance having to for ctrl every time I want to right-click.

This is one argument that apple haters at my college always bring up, which is weird as i've had my macbook for 2 and 1/2 years and have never used ctrl to right click. Always just tap with two fingers on the trackpad, much easier.

Wait... Wait a minute I have the best image for this thread....
