Can anyone explain why a 07 S5 costs around 30 to 33k used when a new one starts at around 40k before you negotiate any discount?

A 335i would cost 10k less, 30k+ is really M3 money.

Maybe cos they look brilliant. I am really NOT an Audi fan, but still find the A5 to be one of the best looking cars around. For me, it's like taking the best bits and crossing an E46 and a Camaro.

I've read Audi/VW lead times are ridiculous at the moment, a friend has waited 6 months for an A3 Cab, and someone else waiting 5 months for a Polo (A friggin polo!)

Indeed, I was quoted 6 months back in November for a new build A4, and discounts were not particularly forthcoming if you didn't want something from stock...

Audi x5's are all the rage at the moment, they are expensive purely as they are in fashion at the moment.

When something else comes along which removes them from the limelight i think we will see prices fall in a fairly big way.

I particularly love the 'A5 Sportback'. Its like Audi are afraid to say 'Hatchback'.

It's not limited to Audi though, BMW also have the same issue with the 5 series hatchback, sorry, GT...

Blame the bizarre germans who are the primary target market for both cars.

The 5 GT and the A5 Sportback are two completely different cars though.

The A5 Sportback is a CLS with even less rear headroom and the 5 GT is a 7 Series hatch. The GT has much more space in the back, with sliding and recling rear seats. The boot is rather clever too.
The A5 on the other hand is just silly :p

Of course, but the issue of them both refusing to call the car a hatchback is consistent...
