• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Why is Amd not announcing anything

Maybe it's just me.

But Why people get so het up over different manufactures having to release stuff at the same time of the competitors. If anything a company would try bag as much time over the other would hide this fact to give them the selling edge. And maybe this time they have tried to keep everything under wraps for as long as possible.

AMD dont have to battle back instantly on every word that a competitor says. Silence is often more powerful.

I bet Ferrari dont go mad when Lamborghini drop a new car. After all they are both in the supercar busines.

It's a 2 horse race. When your wallet allows and you fancy an upgrade go for bang/£ unless you have a diddy case for your diddy house and work at maccy D's.

If you cant play your favourite game at your res, fps and detail then upgrade. Until then wait for the next favourite game and if your rig doesnt play it, work out what upgrade allows that and purchase.

UNless you buy a 4k Go pro and film the mrs lots with Winston & Leroy or have access to 4k content why buty a 4k TV? Saw them in Selfridges the other day. Looked great. But until regular content moves to 4K I wont be buying one. And it's a known fact thta they currently dont have input from DP to manage >30hz currently

4k TV with free sync - that could change things for some PC gamers. Wonder if variable refresh will come to consoles?

Yes but let's face it, this is totally your fault for not doing any decent research into it. You get what you deserve tbqfh;)

Yes how ridiculous of me to expect higher resolutions than 1080P over HDMI even though my two year old Geforce 680 managed this, my Mac mini does it no problem, my laptop can manage it, silly me for expecting AMD's best offering to do this, IF i ever buy an AMD card in the future (highly doubtful) I will check it can of course display these elusive higher resolutions and while I am at better check it displays colour too. (just to be safe) lol

Yup, the nVidia cards are well documented to have (a lower quality) workaround over HDMI. Not something that is hard to research, but like you say it's not that difficult a problem to fix - Just switch cards and bingo!

But yes, AMD should have at least offered the same feature if possible :)

I have absolutely no complaints about AMD's CPUs. At least they don't have compatibility issues that seem to be dogging their 2 series GPUs (black screens etc). Yeah they're not competitive but they are cheap and you get an awful lot of instructions on the FX 8 for your £100. There are apps you can't even run on the I5 due to the instructions missing..

I see hardly any difference between my FX 8 in gaming over my 3970x.

But yeah what Nvidia did was disgusting, even more so their 'apology'.

I am very excited about the Titan X though. I was annoyed at the Titan but I gotta say, since then they've won me around. Epic GPU and definitely befitting of the arrogant name.

If I were to list every GPU I'd ever had the forum would crash. Seriously I'm not joking, we could be into the thousands.

I just wish companies like 3Dlabs and Voodoo were still around though. Back then you had a choice of several (Matrox, ATI, Nvidia, S3, Voodoo, 3Dlabs, Number Nine etc). The problem is Nvidia are so aggressive. Not price wise, but they seem to be able to brain wash people which is quite sad.

I've always preferred to stick up for the little guy and I've had a few AMD GPUs recently (6970 Lightning, 7970 at launch, 290 to play with) and they were all OK but for me dogged with driver issues.

I must just be super bloody unlucky...

Being brain washed into buying better products is something I think most people will be ok with.

Known fact huh? My Panasonic 4k 58AX802b has a DisplayPort 1.2 input that I run in to my 295x2/290x Trifire system for 4k @ 60hz.

It's also got HDMI 2.0 so is future proofed in that respect.

Being brainwashed into buying what you thought you were buying in the first place for more money isn't, though.

AMD all the way for me and to be honest, if they falter I will simply pull out of PC gaming all together and buy a console.

I wouldn't even mind if Nvidia offered anything at all apart from a lame apology.

The 290 I had was pretty neat, and by all accounts AMD now have two GPUs working properly too, so all's good for me. Lady hasn't had any issues with the 7990 I gave her either, so all's the good.
