Why is anyone installing Vista?

I in no way mean this disrepectfully, but why on earth go through all the heart-ache of installing a product that is only going to currently cause heart-ache?

Have I missed something?

That's a pretty large generalisation you've made there.

Possibly... Maybe I've just been reading about people who have done an upgrade then... Maybe they're the people having the issues!?

Personally I'll wait until I build a whole new machine and do a fresh install on that, but that certainly won't be for a long time. a) My current machine is fine at the moment. b) I'll let Vista bed in.

Also, given some of the dire reports of Vista's gaming performance (eg: HL2) waiting is possibly a good thing...

Dito :)

Works great for me and im running 64bit. Expected problems but nothing worth writing about so far to be honest.

If you have the drivers and the system capable of running Vista, why not?

The question should be, "Why stick with XP"?

1) If it ain't broke, why fix it? I can turn my machine on, run my applications and all's fine :)
2) I play a lot of Half Life 2 and some reports are suggesting it's (current) performance in Vista is a lot worse. This goes for many other titles as well I believe... Nothing currently runs faster in Vista, only slower.
3) EAX support is lacking I believe as well...

So if I were to upgrade to Vista, I'd be gaining nothing, and losing something... 0 - 1= -1 :)

I'll wait until I build a new machine probably latter half of the year and worry about Vista then :)
