WHY is chilled red wine wronghhghghgh?

That's the opposite to what I found, I never liked Red wine because it tastes a bit like vinegar, but once I tried the cooled Red I can actually drink it now. Chilled Red tastes sweeter to my pallet. The same with White wine, the chilled version is sweeter and nicer (though still vile) than warm White.

Buy real wine and you'll notice the difference. Loads of the cheap reds taste foul warm or cold, proper reds taste great at room temp. :)

Rosé is something I'm not normally a fan of, but I had a great bottle of it last night when I took my girlfriend out for a meal.

I'm more a white wine person, but it also depends on the food, if it's dark meat then red works well with it, and if it's light meat or pasta then white works well.

I don't like to drink wine just because, has to be with food else it's strange...and at the price I pay I'd rather not waste it on getting drunk, I would rather enjoy my monies worth. :p

I cant understand how people drink sweet drinks (wines, ciders etc) :s Taste way too sickly :o Dry F T W. Though I have to say, I do like a nice Rioja :)

I echo my statement again about cheap wines. Cider on the other hand is not very sweet and is dry if you get the real stuff, not this Magners/Bulmers stuff, real proper scrumpy is where it's at. :D

well on talking to a genuine French Wine connesoiur (however you spell that !) - whos a friend of ours ...

Red wine possibly SHOULD be chilled to some degree

all very well it being room temp, but quite often our central heated "room temps" are a lot higher than the recommended drinking temp, so a little chill down to about 17-19C or so will probably be ideal :)

ooh - google search finds this - recommended serving temps for different red wines

I drink red wine as decent red wine tastes very nice, and as long as the wine is of good quality I never seem to get any sort of a hangover other than a bit dehydrated.
