Why is corn on the cob so awesome?

Actually, the real question is, why is eating corn off the cob so much nicer than just loose sweetcorn? :) It's the same vegetable, yet somehow it seems better gnawing and crunching into it than just spooning it up from a pile on the plate. I guess it proves that food enjoyment comes from more than just the food but also the way we get to eat it. Perhaps it's like chocolate. A kitkat for instance is more enjoyable as two or four fingers in thin silver foil than a block of it in a plastic wrapper.

There were packs of two corn on the cob going for half price at a £1 so I bought some. Just so nom nom!

It's amazing, it's a special kind of food that comes pre-prepared for BBQing right off the plant :D Nearly impossible to over-cook too :p

Eat it all the time out here in Cali - Rub it with a lemon quarter then sprinkle it with chilli powder - EPIC

I never tried that before! Just stick a small fork in each end and roll it in salt and melting butter for me. :D

Yeah, love freshly cut pineapple!

For me though, it's not really the flavour of the corn on the cob that is different. I mean yeah, adding salt and butter to it makes a difference. But even with nothing added, if I scraped the corn off the cob and then ate the loose corn the experience wouldn't be noteworthy. It seems to be the teeth biting into the cob and munching left and right across it that is so satisfying.

<3 fresh sweetcorn and pineapple :D

Sainsbury's do the best (and sweetest) sweetcorn cobs :p

It annoys me because I always get sweetcorn skin stuck between my teeth :/

Mine are from Tesco, they're also very sweet and delish. :)

Yeah, the corn getting stuck in the teeth is annoying. However, that is the tradeoff for a cylinder of yellow heaven. From Epic to Toothpic(k). :p
