Why is DDR1 noteboo RAM so expensive? I need 2 Gb!

Hey,

I have 3-4 year old Evesham laptop with a single core AMD 64-bit processor, ATI X1600 and 1Gb of DDR1 RAM.

I have upgraded it to Vista and, aside from the odd hiccup and a battery that doesn't last too long, it does a pretty decent job for internet etc.

I've knocked most of the Vista graphics options down, but it would still benefit from some more memory I feel.

However, even 1Gb of DDR1 notebook RAM seems to be about £30 on eBay and that would not be matched with my existing stick - so 2x1Gb stick seems what I need, but this is at least £50!

NB: This is NOT a threat to Overclocker's business, as they don't sell this RAM!

Any ideas? I'm sure 3-4 year old laptops with DDR1 RAM are scrapped or sold for less than £50!
