Why is everything updating it's terns?

i think the general consensus is leave 4 chan alone and they will leave you alone in their dark pit..... but poke it like the uk goverenment has just done and im thinking of all the targets they could have went after that is the one site not to annoy and for some reason the uk went yep lets go for them first....... and try and charge them 20k a day for non compliance......

Everyone is anonymous on it, but that is a safer way of doing things online. The problems started when social media sites arrived.

4chan was a dumb target. The government is going to come out looking weak

Buy food
Buy fuel
ID linked to where you work, your bank, mortgage so if you're flagged for speaking out you're sacked and assets seized.

They are doing it under fake profiles anyway. If people were anonymous how would they target someone...

So the way to solve that would be an ID check before entry, something that ties the account back to the perpetrator? I don’t know about you but I’d be happy to go through those barriers if it saves some kids(or adults) getting abused or harassed. I have the choice to enter after all?

So many dramatic responses without thinking about real issues.

That's even further in the wrong direction. Also people can use fake IDs or steal someone elses.

It would all have to be stored somewhere so it's yet another large attack surface for hacks.

On Facebook, Tiktok or Instagram? :D The platforms that are designed to be reflective of real life ie you have a profile with your name and details on it, your own photo albums etc?

Of course they should and if you don’t like it, don’t use them.

Yea, their policies are much closer to China than NK...

We are only one step away from a government firewall (they kind of already have one) and social points.

The next time you’re in the supermarket, don’t look up, you might notice all the CCTV cameras watching you and please don’t use that loyalty card, someone might see the tissue brand you’re buying.

Nasher clearly doesn’t have a valid argument for letting people onto commercial social media platforms anonymously. As one expected.

That’s an absolutely ideological decision. There’s no justification - one way or the other - why that should be the case. Whether you think they should or shouldn’t be linked is down to you, but there’s no inherent reason to it.
