Why is F.E.A.R running carp?

Spec is:

P4 3.2ghz
1GB PC 3200 Dual channel Ram
250GB Sata Drive
7600GT AGP

Even running fear on Medium settings is so jumpy and horrible

I am running windows vista with the latest drivers for the card but still jumpy

When i installed and played the demo it worked fine on medium settings, nice and smooth, it only started getting jumpy on max settings.

The only thing i can think of it being is when i installed and run the game for the first time, it asked me to download a 600mb game download, which i did, tried installing it and it says its only available in (English US), didnt give me any other options, then it just exit the updater.

But i did mention that i ran the demo version of fear with no problems what so ever on medium settings?

Did you play the demo on Vista?

I did yes hence the reason i bought the game, i downloaded the demo to see if it ran ok on vista before i bought

Ill install the patches and give it my best shot, until i get some new ram of course

ahh there we go..version 1.08 retail and all is running smooth on medium settings
