Why is i7 6700k more expensive than i7 7700k

So buy a 7700k. Same socket, more performance although a Z170 board will probably need a bios flash first. Z270 boards will take one straight out of the box.

I believe the 6700k is about the best CPU you can use with windows 7, 7700k needs windows 10.
I think the main reason is that I had 2 and have sold them both, so now they will go up in price!

6700k aren't being produced anymore and the ones in the wild become harder to find, so this slowly drives up the price over time.

Thought I saw at the time reviews suggesting the performance clock for clock was exactly the same, perhaps that has changed over time. I understood the reasons were to go for the 7700k was simply because it was newer, and had other features connected to the MB ect.
