I decided it would be a good idea to remove the stuff in my PC that's not needed and give it a hoover out.

The two front intake fans and a top outlet fan, all not connected so was a simple case of removing them.
I disconnected the top fan from the SYS fan splitter and connected the rear directly back to the SYS fan on the motherboard.

The two front fans I unscrewed and took them out.
I then removed a Lite On DVD drive that looks like it's from about year 2000 :D

Powered my machine back on and BIOS had been reset?! How

Anyway, I spent the best part of 3 hours looking for old BIOS settings - voltages for Vcore, DRAM etc.

has it reset again since? is it the first time your machine has been completely powered down and unplugged? is it an old motherboard? what i'm hinting at is - is it the CMOS battery on the motherboard? time of day resetting is sometimes indicative of this too. the only other thing I can think of is if you shorted the clear cmos pins - an accident that would taker a bit of skill, or pressed a reset cmos button on the back / on the board if it has one. perhaps it was the direction the wind was blowing in that day :D

but yep, it's odd, and yep, it's never easy.

Nope, not reset since. The date and time was all good, nothing reset there.
Certainly not the first its been powered down and unplugged, but for some time yes.
Think your right, ill have accidentally hit a reset cmos button on the board when trying to unplug a fan

Time to get some bios pics for when I do the same again!
