Why is it, the higher i Sync, the slower my speeds?.

Im currently limited to a 3mbit connection due to exchange distance and i was wondering why when i sync at about 4224 (as i am this morning) the slower my download speeds can be, as low as 150-250k a second.

Yet when i sync at about 3400-3700 my download speeds are at about the max 350k a second

Pings, upload and browsing remain the same whichever speed i sync at.

if your connection drops at all and the sync lowers then it takes 3days of a higher sync before the speeds will increase.

Thats crazy....it means you have to leave your router turned on 24/7 365 days a year if you dont want a speed drop..

Only if you sync lower on reconnecting and if you do then it probably means if it had stayed at the higher sync you would have got errors etc. anyway (and the line would probably drop and resync on it own at some point anyway). Providing you line is relatively stable you should get it resyncing at around the same level each time so there is no need to keep it on all the time. The gripe most people have is that it takes 3 days to get a higher sync - so maybe if you resynced during todays thunderstorms and got a low rate then it takes 3 days to get back. This might have been what you described in your first post, though you have now synced at 4224 it might have synced just prior to that at a lower rate so you are seeing the performance level for that drop and in 3 days you will see the benefit of the increase.
It is a balance between performance and stability. Do you want a higher rate with random lost connections or a lower rate with no dropouts. The ISPs and I thnk the majority of the users would like to see the latter. The situation is not ideal but I think it will improve at the service matures.
