Here is a link to a screen capture I did.

The light grey sections at the top are missing information. If I were to move my mouse over the area between "ebay tools" and "QC" another button would appear but not until I move the mouse over that area.

I have vista and IE7 installed. Using a ATI X1950pro card and have uninstalled and re-installed the latest catalyst drivers. I'm wondring if it's the card that is knackered. It happens a lot but not always.

The other day I opened a file in notepad and the file contents were not displayed. Closed and opened the file again and the content was displayed OK.

It seems that random bits of information are not displayed until another repaint is forced etc.

Thanks

There's no link to a screeny. I doubt its anything to do with the card. Sounds like software to me. The default answer would be to uninstall then reinstall whatever software the button is for. Or perhaps IE7. Others will just tell you to use Firefox.

I didn't read it was Vista at first. I've experienced similar things in XP but thought they would have sorted it for Vista.

AGP card? If so check the settings under smartgart in CCC.

Only other time I've seen similar is when the PC is running low on resources, mem etc.

The affected buttons are on different toolbars so I don't think it's a specific toolbar in ie7. Also notepad had problems.

4GB memory and happens when I'm browsing and nothing else running so resources should be OK

I'm going to run online kaspersky scan but I'm sure it will find nothing

Something else that has been annoying me is that when I click on the windowws icon bottom left to open the programs list, a lot of the program icons take ages to display.

Go into your Internet Explorer settings and restore all defaults and get rid of any addons you have and re-install them:

Tools,
Internet Options,
Manage Add-ons > Enable or disable Add-ons

kaspersky scan found nothing

I don't think the problem is just with the browser, like I said, a couple of times the contents of a txt file were not drawn in notepad - I closed the window, reopened the file in notepad and the contents were there.

any other ideas?

OK but I think I have found the problem. It is happening on my laptop too and the has a totally different graphics card installed.

It seems to be flash9f.ocx that is causing the problem, anyone else had problems with flash? I have downloaded the uninstall routine for that from adobe and run it. I'm going to try running for a while with no flash installed, then install the latest release and see how it goes.

Thanks for all the help
