Why is my IP35 beeping at me

Ok so I've just spent this evening putting the new build together and just powered it up for the first time.

It all works fine - the board boots ok and will load Windows without issue except the speak is emitting an alternating high/low beeping tone from the moment it's started and it won't stop. Usually such things are to aid diagnostics when the thing won't boot, but this one does boot and I can't find anything wrong.

Anyone? Totally flummoxed here

hi lo is either a fan rpm, temp or voltage outside set warning parameters.
Have you connected a fan to the CPUFan header?

Ah, have got a fan connected yes, but is a slow 120mm job so might be too slow - will check settings.

the fan might be going below the "rpm threshold" or whatever its called.

Yep that was it. Mobo was reading CPU fan speed as zero and thus squealing.

Now I need to work out why it cant read the fan speed as I've configured the BIOS for a 3-pin connector.
