My setup is as follows:

Main winxp pc connected to a zyxel prestige router via a cat cable.
Second winxp Pc connects to above router via a 54mbps belkin wirless card.

When i first set it up transferring files was about right speed for this connection.

Now a few days later its taking 50 mins to copy a 150meg file from the main pc to the wireless pc!!

No softwarree has been added nor has the configuration changed.

In the status on the belkin wirless software it shows up as being 11mbps connection, which is probably why i am getting a slow transfer rate. thing is i havent chanegd anything nor do i know what to do to gte it back to 54mbps.

Both PCs are in the same room and the siganl is showing around 87% strength .. any ideas?

cheers.

Have you secured your wireless network? I ask, because if someone is connecting at 11Mbps, iirc, the entire wireless network will only perform at the rate of the slowest card.

Hmmm, that should be fine then. Although, you say you're using your DS. Presumably that only runs at 11Mbps? Is the speed always 11Mbps, or does this occur when the DS is on only?

nah, fixed after rummaging about noticed it was set to 802.11 b turns out that has a max rate of 11mbs. I never changed it so dunno how it went over to that :/

All fine and dandy now as i have put it back to g!

cheers!
