As per title. Is 3600 not way better value and more than enough for what people are asking for?

(yes I bought a 1200 for $50 and hope to get £30 or £40 for it next month)

Yes what you say is right. But in 5years time the 3600 may not be upto the job and the extra cores/threads of the 3700x with give it a longer life experience.

When building a computer build it for tomorrow not today or before you know it your upgrading.

I completely agree except for cpu's that can go on the same mobo and especially for gaming only where the extra cores are currently not being used by most. eg I just got a Ryzen 1 1200 for $50. In a couple of months I'll swap it for a ryzen 2xxx or 3xxx(x). The 1200 will probably get me £30 back and the new(er) chip will (probably) be a lot less than now.
