I just got Gran Turismo 5 from LoveFilm, put it in.. update 2.07, it's on update 1/17 it says and it's 608mb.

But why does it download so slowly? makes me want to cry :'( Then it's gotta install!

/rant

but seriously, i feel like i'm on 1mb not 20mb internet :p

VM + PSN = slow downloads IME and quite a few others here, dno where the issue lies though, but most likely VM...

ps3ud0

Xbox is super fast for me, I downloaded the latest 2GB Battlefield 3 update in around 20 minutes :p

It's really annoying, it's now on a 1.1GB update for GT5, this is going to take hours.. Wish I could just download in the background, then I could play the other game I got :3

I dont understand why on ps3 you can have for example a 250mb update for fifa and on the xbox its only 2mb, The smallest patch i have ever seen on PS3 is for God of War 3 it was around 6mb i think.

That's true, it's annoying when theres a combination of huge ass updates, then you gotta wait to install then the kick in the teeth is how slow it downloads :o:(

couple of reasons why i stopped using PS3, Very slow downloads/updates and then installs. just not what i need when switching on a console to play for maybe 10-15 mins.

Me too. I'm on VM and it seems to be renowned for having rubbish connection with PSN for some reason. I know it's free but it's like being back on dialup.

with VM and getting slowish downloads too.

I always thought it was just a PSN thing

has anyone on VM tried direct connection to the modem to PS?

Just got a new router will see if that helps, will post again if it ups my PSN speed.

Isn't it something to do with how PSN is set up? A lot of ISP's systems think it's actually a p2p download so it gets slowed down. Something like that anyway. Or I may have dreamt that!
