Why is PSN so slow?

Ea servers were down for me earlier but COD was fine. Hate the variation with which crappy server goes down with ps3s

Lol psn and their error codes. I remember how frustrated I was when it was down for like a month and all they did was leave the same error code up so you had to check on their blog

I'm only on a 6MB connection and patches download between 500-700 KB/s for me.

PS3 download times are shocking, im on VM.
Xbox on the otherhand is super fast.

Never thought it was a VM problem though....

It's got nothing to do with VM or any other provider for that matter, the servers are just bad. I researched this for ages back when I got Infinity, even tried a new router. The servers are just slow in general, seen endless threads with various people encountering the same problem.

It's slow so u can go get a cup of tea/ make something to eat while it updates, just another example of Sony caring about their customers

I recently had this problem with GT5 on my new PS3.

Patching the game took forever so I made a note of the size of each patch whilst it was downloading.

Absolutely crazy!! Imagine what Average Joe on the street must feel like when he gets home and puts GT5 in for the first time.

That IS ridiculous. Probably best to switch your internet off and not go near PSN/multiplayer.

I'm on VM. I find if I'm downloading over wireless on the PS3 my download speeds are shocking... If I wire my PS3 up i get awesome speeds.

Giving it a good trashing today. Signed up for PlayStation+ so just downloading about 30GB worth of goodies. Tis maxing out my connection at 14 Mbits though.

It's hell for those of us whose PS3 is nowhere near the router and who have to rely on a wireless connection. If I take the laptop into the room with the PS3 it will max out the line via wireless, yet the PS3 is shockingly slow.
