Why is Safari such a resource hog?

Hey all,

Now I love Safari, but recently have been forced to switch to Firefox, for the simple fact it is such a damn resource hog it's ridiculous.

It run's so slowly, the hard drive is continuously going beserk when it runs...which doesn't make any sense because I've only got a few bookmarks and no RSS feeds...

Does anyone else get this? it's a right pain...

No problems here though.

EDIT: Just realised I haven't actually cleared the history or cache since I bought the Mac in July

Might have something to do with it - Now running back at normal speeds, yay!
